The new Alu-Cab Gen 3-R rooftop tent is very similar to the Expedition Gen 3.1 tent!
However, it brings some new features.
These start with the roof design - the roof structures have been made using a specific roller shape and provide better stability to the whole tent!
When rooftop tents first hit the market, they were revolutionary, mainly because your tent and mattress (the two things that take up the most space in luggage) were now conveniently stored on your roof.
Of course, there are plenty of other benefits to owning a rooftop tent, but there are also plenty of downsides.
Fortunately, most of these drawbacks are associated with soft-shell rooftop tents, as well as heavy canvas units that are difficult to open.
For these reasons, our expedition tent has always been designed with a hard shell. The benefits of this setup include...
A gas strut-assisted design that opens and closes in seconds.
A three-point entry and exit layout so you don't have to plan your campsite around your tent.
A more aerodynamic shape.
You can close the tent with your bedding inside.
Our expedition tent has always been designed with a hard shell.
Additionally, hard shell tents generally last longer than their soft shell counterparts, they are also easier to clean and much more resistant to rain, snow and windy weather conditions.
But most importantly, for an overland trip (where you're moving from camp to camp), you can't beat the convenience of a pop-up tent with an opening roof; That's why our ever-popular Expedition tent is now in its third generation.

LOAD CAPACITY OF LOADING RAILS:
The load rating of the loading rails on the roof of the tent is 50 kg.
It is important to note that the location of the load on the roof determines how easy or difficult it is to open the tent.
It is always advisable to move heavier loads towards the front of the tent, and much lighter loads, such as a solar panel, towards the rear.
Additionally, hard shell tents generally last longer than their soft shell counterparts, they are also easier to clean and much more resistant to rain, snow and windy weather conditions.
